WE DA PEPO is a collaborative project in which seven transnational artists reflect upon questions of dehumanization in American immigration. In this project, the artists' Irene C., Jusun S., Mengjiao Z., Michael M., Nivedita M., Oscar L., and Vivian V. create new definitions of identity through visual mediums including video, photography, painting, printmaking, performance, sound art, and sculpture.
AMERICAN LANGUAGE is a performance art video created by Vivian Vivas. She references her performance , GLUTTONY FOR THE AMERICAN LAND, as an invitation to unite six performances created by the responding members. AMERICAN LANGUAGE deconstructs the oversimplified categorizations and labels imposed on immigrants, while showing the codified bias of how we learn the culture.
